Fall Housewarming Gifts: What to Bring in October
A lot of people move in late summer, so the housewarming party often lands in October. That helps the guest. The season hands you a theme, and good fall housewarming gifts are easy to find: something warm to eat, something for the table, or one piece of decor for a room that is still half empty.
What makes a good fall gift
- It gets used this month. Soup, cider, a candle or a throw are welcome as soon as the evenings turn cold.
- It is small. People who have just moved are short on storage. Pick a gift that fits in one hand or on one shelf.
- It can be put away. Seasonal decor comes out for a few weeks each year. A pillow or a coaster stores flat. A large figure for the yard does not.

We design the artwork. A print partner prints each item after it is ordered and ships it to the buyer. Nothing sits in a warehouse, so allow time for printing as well as delivery. Etsy shows the delivery estimate and the shipping cost at checkout. Shipping is extra. We do not offer personalization on these items, and props shown in the photos are not included.
If the gift is for a party before Halloween, order early in the month and check the delivery estimate first.
What to skip
- Strong scents. Pumpkin spice candles are a matter of taste. Pick a mild scent, or skip the candle.
- Real pumpkins that are already carved. They last a few days.
- Large yard decor. They may not have the space, and their lease or building rules may not allow it.
- Anything scary, if there are small children in the house.
- Anything with a name or an address on it, unless you are sure of the spelling.
When to give it
- Going to the party? Bring the gift with you. Something small is fine, and a card matters more than the price.
